This event has ended.

Nara born Natsunosuke Mise takes up the lines of history and climate, which form the very the x and y axis of Japan’s appeal and draws them across his various bases of experience including Nara, Kyoto, Florence and Tohoku in a dynamic yet delicate output. Having won the VOCA Award in 2009 and the 5th Higashiyama Kaii Memorial Nikkei Nihonga Award in 2012, Mise is an artist who has attracted much attention in recent years, and has extended his engagements as professor of Tohoku University of Art & Design. In this exhibition he presents major works including “Il Principe” “My God”, alongside the “J” series on Japan and the work inspired by Picasso’s Guernica “Picture of Japan” produced after 3.11, coupled with new work examining the sensibilities of Nara in the cross section of history and art.
