Shuzo Takiguchi Exhibition
Tezukayama Gallery
This event has ended.
Shuzo Takiguchi was known as a poet, art critic, and the man responsible for introducing surrealism to Japan. A leading figure of Japanese avant-garde art, he provided inspiration to countless young artists before and after WWII. He served as the commissioner of the 1958 Venice Biennale and later traveled across Europe meeting with major artists such as Andre Breton and Marcel Duchamp. After returning to Japan, he produced watercolors, motor-powered and burnt drawings, decals, and other works. This show, part of a series of traveling exhibitions, displays around 35 of his diverse creations including drawings, watercolors, and decals, while spotlighting his activities as a sculptor.
