poster for Manyo Clothing

This event has ended.

Clothing is a crucial element of human life. It not only adds color to our existence, but as an indication of the rank and status of its wearer, is intimately linked to society and culture. This exhibition presents Nihonga paintings from the museum’s collection featuring Manyo characters and their wardrobes, giving viewers the opportunity to experience the culture of clothing in the Asuka (550–710) and Nara (710–794) periods.
