This event has ended.

An ancient civilization, Mesopotamia is the name of the area by the side of Tigris and the Euphrates River, which corresponds to modern-day Iraq, Kuwait, the northeastern section of Syria, parts of southeastern Turkey and smaller parts of southwestern Iran. Mesopotamia’s rich culture and wisdom is felt from the clay tablets which Mesopotamian scribes used to record their daily events, trade, astronomy, and literature.

This exhibition, with the cooperation of the Ancient Orient Museum, Tokyo, will consist of excavated artifacts and models of sites obtained from the excavation investigation conducted in Syria over many years. By combining this with the archaeological resources in Japan, there is an exchange of material culture which transcends the boundaries of the east and the west.

This is a chance to explore the affinity of human beings despite the difference in time and space.
“How do humans live and where do they go? This is an exploratory journey into their workings and wisdom.”
