Mitsuo Kim turns photographs of what look like normal, everyday scenes to the naked eye into silkscreen prints, printing these images onto paraffin-applied panels or paper and heating parts of their surfaces. The haphazardly applied heat melts the paraffin, which runs together with the silkscreen ink, completely transforming these universal scenes into warped images. Focusing on “Light and Shadow,” this exhibition presents new works by this artist with original creative methods.
