This event has ended.

In the Kamanza area of Kyoto, there is an extensive four hundred year history of iron tea kettles used in Japanese tea ceremonies. This culture has stayed with the Onishi family through successive generations. This exhibition celebrates the family’s tenth generation, during the late Edo period when “Chanoyu, ” the Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of green tea spread throughout the world. Iron crafts and other utensils used in Japanese tea ceremonies are on show.
