This event has ended.

The “Eye of the Artist” series spotlights currently practicing artists. This installment introduces Shu Takahashi, a painter born in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture in 1930. He moved to Tokyo at 19 to become an artist and received the Yasui Art Prize at the age of 31. He then went to study in Italy in pursuit of a wider and less constraining world and spent approximately four decades in Rome establishing his own unique style. This exhibition traces his transformations and tells his full story as an artist. Around 50 of Takahashi’s works are on display, including his most recent paintings and those made between the 1970s and his return to Japan in 2004.
