Milan, known for producing the world’s leading fashion and design, is home to Milan’s Museo Poldi Pezzoli, a now-public palace museum called the most beautiful in Europe. Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli (1822–1879), a descendent of the aristocratic family who originally owned the palace, assembled a peerless collection of paintings, crafts, armor, and other works of art passed down by the family for generations. This exhibition presents several items dating from the Renaissance through the 19th Century from this magnificent aristocratic collection, on display in Japan for the first time. Among these works is Antonio del Pollaiolo’s masterpiece “Portrait of a Young Woman”, a symbol of the museum and a shining example from the annals of portrait painting. Take this rare opportunity to see this beautiful face in profile you are sure never to forget.
