An exhibition of 60 works from the Yamadera Goto Museum of Art in Yamagata City follows the modal transitions that occurred in European paintings from the 16th century Baroque to 19th century portraiture, still life, religious and mythical paintings, and finally reaching a new era of possibility in the modern Barbizon School landscapes.
