Michaël Borremans Exhibition
Kenninji
This event has ended.
In his first exhibition of ink drawings, Michaël Borremans, a painter based in the Belgian city of Ghent, undertakes an experiment in the investigation of the future of art and design university teaching methods. Here he takes up the following question “If a contemporary artist with great skill and power of expression from a different cultural background created fusuma (partition) paintings and furniture onsite at a Japanese temple or shrine, how would it be inspired?” This special exhibition is being held as part of the KUAD’s efforts to realize the international graduate school vision of “building an internationally competitive education/research system,” which was begun at the Kyoto University of Art & Design in the fiscal year of 2013.
