This event has ended.

The works of Takehiro Terabayashi are inspired by the early oil paintings of the 15th and the 17th century, while also taking on the legacy of modern Japanese painters such as Yuichi Takahashi and Ryusei Kishida. His painting style is in contrast to the common ways of production in this digital age, refusing to work from photographs and training the eye directly upon the object. In a post 3.11 society where the threat of earthquakes are always near, the boundaries of society, nature and history have transformed in Japan, and in a world in which we have made our way to industrial scales of consumption, we think this feeling toward his artworks is Terabayashi depicts the reality of our modern age in which the line between the consumption of images and human necessities of food, clothing and shelter becomes disturbed.
