This event has ended.

This “class” of sorts invites participants to imagine a large international art festival of the past that no one has ever been to. Based on the first session of documenta, the German exhibition of modern and contemporary art that makes records of its age, the class asks, “What can we discover while contemplating the first documenta of 1955?” Some of the works displayed at documenta 1 will reappear— or be put to use— in the classroom.
