Mayuko Wada’s artistic approach begins with a vision inside her head, from which she creates works expressing a systematized logic that could be considered both practice and implementation. Wada does not categorize her works into “paintings” or “sculptures,” but analyzes them according to their painterly or sculptural properties. As paeans to images, her creations are not to be understood as “things to be seen,” but as studies in “how to see.” Our tendency to overlook what seems obvious to us is one of the subjects of Wada’s works.
