Insho’s Preparatory Drawings for Fusuma Paintings— Chishaku-in Temple, Saiho-ji Temple, Honen-in Temple
Insho Domoto Museum of Fine Arts
This event has ended.
Insho Domoto made a number of fusuma (sliding screen) paintings for temples and shrines in Kyoto. This exhibition showcases Insho’s preliminary drawings for these fusuma paintings from the museum’s collection. The images show Chishaku-in Temple’s “shinden” (the most sacred part of the shrine), Saiho-ji Temple’s main hall, and Honen-in Temple’s “hojo” (abbot’s residence) and “boseikaku” (western-facing part of the shrine complex), revealing the inspiration Insho received from these interior spaces.
