This event has ended.

Born in the Tachikui, Tanba area of Hyogo Prefecture in 1961, Ichiji Shimizu studied Tanba, Seto, and Bizen ceramics before settling on the Tanba form. He opened the Hakuyo kiln in 2004 and currently focuses on exhibitions of traditional Japanese ceramics and craft. He created the works featured in this exhibition, his first solo show, by altering a process of using pure white clay practiced in Tanba since the Edo period. On display are some 60 works demonstrating this new form of expression, including jars, vases, incense burners, pots, and sake vessels. These ceramics are presented along with arrangements by the Mishoryu Nakayama Bunpo-kai ikebana association, which is headed by Kosho Nakayama.
