Kyoto City University of Arts 1960s Graduates’ Association Exhibition
Kyoto City University of Arts Gallery @KCUA
This event has ended.
This exhibition focuses on works by Kyoto City University of Arts’ Faculty of Fine Arts students who graduated in the 1960s, an era when Japan shined on the world stage as its economy took off. Meanwhile, young and energetic art critics such as Yoshiaki Tono and Yusuke Nakahara were rapidly introducing overseas art movements, contributing to the development of contemporary art in Japan. The exhibition explores the relationship between students’ works purchased by the university in the 1960s and this time period, displaying items that shed light on the age in genres including architecture and advertising.
