They secure spaces, maintaining a delicate sense of distance through loose separations and connections that can let in the air and light of the outside, if we open them just a little. More than merely physical in concept, they create complex and subtle layers of consciousness. In spaces of identity, curtains can expand our perceptions of family, society, nationality, and ethnicity.
