Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts
This event has ended.
Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki are the general terms used for all ceramics made in Kyoto. The ceramic industry in Kyoto began in the 5th century, and developed during the Azuchi-Momoyama Period (1573-1603), and many kilns for making ceramics were built here during the Edo Period (1603-1868). Kyo-yaki / Kiyomizu-yaki are traditionally used as tableware, ornaments, and implements for tea ceremony and flower arrangement.
