Using the hard mountain clay of the Shinshu region’s Yaehara plateau and techniques learned in Kiyomizu, Riwako Sumi creates highly original works that reveal a tough-minded intelligence. This is the 50th exhibition of her works at Gallery Hill Gate since 1995.
