This event has ended.

Shiho Yamamoto and Hana Inoue both studied Nihonga painting in university and graduate school at the same time, and continue to influence each other as artists. While their works from university shared many similarities, later group and solo exhibitions have demonstrated their own unique forms of artistry. For this exhibition, they have made six works to correspond with the six syllables, “fu, you, jun, sui, ki, kyou”, which could have several different meanings, but can be interpreted as “the purity of the cotton rose and the impurity of the Chinese bellflower.” Each work presents an image that the artist associates with the sounds of these words. Yamamoto’s contain themes of circulation or cycles, while Inoue’s feature sparkling, glittery motifs. Although they started from the same place, these two artists have produced entirely different works through their individual imaginations and creativity.
