After studying nihonga at Tama Art University Takehiko Sugawara(b.1962) came to gain the inspiration of his career as he moved to Yamanashi and encountered the ancient cherry blossom trees there. Enchanted by the life force of these historic blooms Sugawara has continued to depict these wonders of nature with an almost spiritual devotion, filling them with a cosmic like energy which merges infinity and transience, past and future. In this exhibition he unveils recent work for the first time amongst a series of 30 paintings reflecting the inner light of sakura.
