Mikiko Hayashi is the Kyoto-born eldest daughter of the Living National treasure doll maker Komao Hayashi. After studying Nihonga painting in university, she learned classical Yamato-e painting with the support and guidance of her father. Some fifty works of papier mache, decorated shells, and folding fans painted with good omens to bring happiness that people have prayed for enjoyed since ancient times are on display, presenting a world brightness and beauty longed for by the Japanese people.
