This event has ended.

During the Edo Period, scientific principles were applied to popularize mysterious and unusual toys. Various scientific toys were created from the beginning of the Meiji Period when western science was introduced. The magazine “Kodomo No Kagaku” (Science for Children) was founded in 1924 and continues to foster children’s interest in science to this day. Since 1963, when it was included as a supplementary booklet in Gakken’s “Kagaku”, it has continued to gain popularity.
This exhibition displays science-based toys going forward from the Edo Period, and will hopefully provide children with hints for their summer break homework craft or research projects.
