Using mainly formal methods, the Daisuke Hama explores forms that do that follow standards of logic. Still, his works, which are rooted in subjective compositions and formulaic parallel lines, awaken with viewers new senses of being part of a larger collective. He is very much aware of the provocative aspects of his works made from traditional materials while incorporating his own historical and cultural experiences. As a way of spanning the distance between reality and us, he chooses black and white compositions to portray “the outside of the window” onto our daily lives.
