Houchu Nakamura “In the Trail of Korin”
Hosomi Museum
This event has ended.
Houchu Nakamura(?~1819) was a painter active around Osaka in the later part of the Edo era. In his early career he followed a style of ink painting of mountains and rivers, but in later years he became a devotee of Korin Ogata(1658-1716) and took up the techniques of the Rinpa school, coming to publish a book upon this movement and creating numerous works in this style. This exhibition takes an overview of Nakamura’s work on a scale like no other and brings further evaluation to his unique skill and wide ranging output.
