Prepare to be deceived. Bunkamura is celebrating its 25th anniversary with this visual trick exhibition, a sequel to the one held in 2009 in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Hyogo prefectures. Head-scratching visual illusions by both masters of the genre (Magritte, Dali) and contemporary trick artists (Hockney, Richter, and Hiroshi Sugimoto) are on display. The exhibit showcases the many different forms of visual illusion, from skewed perspective drawings and mirrored images to Surrealist works, and plots a history of the development of the art from its beginnings in the 16th century.
