Atsushi Uemura “Conversing with Birds”
Shouhaku Art Museum
This event has ended.
Atsushi Uemura, the museum’s director, is an 81-year-old, Kyoto-born Nihonga painter. Since ancient times, the compositions of Nihonga paintings have treated people, birds, plants, and animals equally, as if they all belong to one larger life form. Uemura’s works also demonstrate this feeling of oneness with nature and quiet reverence for life in their intimate yet profound scenes. Works by scholarship recipients chosen by the Shouhaku Art Museum in an open-call contest are now on display along with Uemura’s paintings.
