Yui Samejima’s collage-influenced paintings and illustrations calmly place reality and fiction beside each other as two elements essential to artistic expression, producing diverse compositions that express the dynamics of both. In doing so, her works make us aware of other dimensions that can be directly experienced through human vision and imagination. New sculptures made from unconventional materials in a series that was exhibited at Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo last year further expand on her background in sculpture, an important part of her artist approach.
