Seiroku Moroto was born in 1846 as the oldest son and heir to a landowner. Starting a rice wholesale business, Seiroku made a fortune in a relatively short time and donated money to help create water pipes in the town of Kuwana where he lived. During this time, he also started to collect fine art pieces which his second son inherited and to which he added carefully selected tea utensils. 68 pieces from this high quality collection are on display in this exhibition.
