Hyogo born artist Miki Suizan was a talented student, studying Japanese-style painting under the famous Kyoto nihonga painter Takeuchi Seiho. He is best known for his dignified paintings of beautiful women, bijinga, in the nihonga painting style. Suizan spent the years from 1952 to 1957 in the United States, showing at individual exhibitions that focused on bijinga and gaining international praise. This retrospective exhibition introduces Suizan’s art, from his earlier works to those produced before his death in 1957.
