poster for The Archaeology of Shingun II: Discoveries of the Iino District

This event has ended.

This exhibition features the Iino district (currently the southeastern part of Matsusaka City), where a series of new discoveries have been made in recent excavations. The Iino district was part of what was called the “Shinsangun” (three districts of the Shingun), together with the Watarai District, where Ise-jingu Shrine was located, and the Taki District, where Saiku was placed. The Shingun are a key factor in studying the history of Mie Prefecture. What were the Shingun and how were they related to both Ise-jingu Shrine and Saiku? This exhibition will shed light on the hidden history and culture in the district, mainly through the results of the latest archaeological studies.
