poster for Medieval People and Art

This event has ended.

Japan in medieval times saw a flourish of arts amid the breakdown of civil order. With the shift in power, creativity came not only from nobility but from the warrior class and various townspeople. This was a time where focus and recognition of individuality was paramount and artists began to mark their paintings with their signatures. This exhibition introduces the writings, portraits, biographies and artwork of these interesting times.
