Leonardo da Vinci, creator of Renaissance masterpieces such as “The Last Supper” and “Mona Lisa,” was a man of many interests, such as astronomy, aviation, and anatomy. Da Vinci sketched and took copious notes on his observations and ideas, and these “manuscripts” reflecting his life and mind remain part of his legacy. Many of these writings full of astoundingly ahead-of-their time notions have laid the groundwork for contemporary technologies now part of our reality.
This exhibition focusing on da Vinci the scientist and innovator presents facsimiles of his manuscripts and models of the amazing machines and products created based on them in the “past” section, introduces his ideas that live on in aircraft, ships, rockets, and other machinery in the “present” section, and showcases androids he may have helped develop if he were alive in the 21st century. This is a show for young and old alike.
