Last year, Keisuke Jimba won the Higashiyama Artists’ Placement Service award in the “KUAD graduates under 30 selected” division of the Kyoto University of Art and Design competition for young artists. In the modern age of information, we are flooded with visual representations, especially images or movies created using digital technology, or shared through digital means. Jimba’s two-dimensional creations go back and forth between the concepts, “This is just a painting” and “Why does it have to be a painting?”, and show his unique approach to painting. This exhibition, in addition to introducing his new work, takes advantage of the characteristics of Haps Ground Floor gallery to allow his work to be viewed during the night from the street.
