According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2016 is the year of the monkey. With the Japanese word for monkey, “saru” also meaning “to dispel,” this can be interpreted as good fortune with the dispelling of demons or illness. From ancient times, there is a practice of purchasing red underwear during the year of the monkey for good luck and health.
An auction of the exhibited “red” works will take place on the last day of the exhibition.
