This event has ended.

This special exhibition will be held in conjunction with the NHK period drama for 2014, “Strategist Kanbei.” Kanbei Kuroda was the first son of the lord of Himeji Castle in the Harima Domain. While the great feudal lord, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, appointed him to high ranks, his talent made people around him uneasy and fearful of him. He skillfully manoeuvred through the turbulent era, eventually laying the foundation for the Fukuoka Domain with 520,000 koku. This exhibition examines the man and his times through artifacts associated with him as well as historical materials from his era.
