Nisshun is Nitten’s annual spring Nihonga exhibition. For 50 years this event has served as a gateway to the world of Nihonga painting and fostered many up-and-coming artists producing creative and original works. This year 257 paintings were chosen from 695 submissions. Exhibited are jury favorites, the works of selected local artists, paintings by Nisshun members and their teachers, and pieces by new Japan Art Academy members. Visitors are offered a look at trends in contemporary Nihonga painting.
