The Ima-Kara Mame-Sara Exhibition

This annual exhibition is organised by the ironworks manufacturer Seikado and is an open-call for small plates made in metal, known as mame-sara (bean plate). Aimed not only to promote the world of ironwork to the wider community, the objective is to create a platform from which ironwork artists can exchange ideas through the exhibition of their creations based upon this Japanese vessel. This is a chance to deepen our understanding of ironwork traditions from around the world through exchange and communication and to learn about the techniques and knowledge that were not only born in Japan, but also from the far corners of the globe.
