On the occasion of the the 150th anniversary of the archeologist Heinrich Schliemann’s trip to Japan and the 130th anniversary of the publication of his report on the Greek Tiryns Ruins, 28 original illustrations from the report held by the Tenri University Sankokan Museum are on public display for the first time. This exhibition also debuts the complete German and French editions of Schiemann’s “The Ruins of Troy,” a document that took the world by storm, along with 19th century writings on Egypt and Japan.
