An exhibition with pieces from the Chiso collection and by Karina Bisch, Ingrid Luche, Lisa Holzer and Anne Laure Sacriste, curated by Vincent Romagny (Villa Kujoyama 2015) This exhibition binds the traditional world of kimono and the world of contemporary art. Four contemporary artists from Europe have been invited to produce and design kimono fabric creations to be displayed along with short sleeve Edo period kimono pieces from the Chiso Collection. This allows viewers to visualize the results from two completely different manufacturing processes, the process through inherited tradition and the process of crashing through that tradition. Both are extremes and this exhibition provides a strange contrast between the two.
