The word used for the title “Hal(l)o !” is a word coined from the greeting “Hello,” the word “halation” - a photographic term which is a kind of optical phenomenon, and also the halo seen in the painting. Nakayama frequently chooses optical phenomenon as her subject matter and the words “halation” and “Halo” also have relevance to the light depicted in her works.
