This event has ended.

An exhibition held by Melinda Heal and Amy Kerr-Menz, showing their unique Katazome and Yuzen dyed-works including washi dyed with rich natural dye colours, transparent silk with flying parrots, incredibly detailed hand-cut stencils and multilayered fabric works. “Kukkiri” means distinct and bold. For both of these artists, this is part of the attraction of the traditional resist techniques Katazome and Yuzen; the creative effort involved in achieving crisp, clear resist lines and patterns. Through their fresh approach and use of both Australian flowers and birds as well as non-traditional motifs, they bring a fresh Australian twist to traditional Japanese resist dyeing whilst honoring the history and processes of the techniques.
