The Sendai-based artist Maiko Kanno has attracted the attention of international collectors at annual solo shows in Tokyo and Sendai with her acrylic paintings of young but profoundly expressive girls. Beneath the cuteness of her characters lurks complex emotions and immaturity mingled with innocent assertion. Kanno presents new works at her first show in Kansai.
