This event has ended.

“A Two Pipe Problem” is a letterpress studio based in Walthamstow, East London, run by Stephen Kenny. A working graphic designer, Stephen leads his trained eyes to create a new approach to the antique art of letterpress.
In this exhibition, Stephen releases new works capturing ordinary scenes such as, ‘music’, ‘food’, ‘sound’, ‘happiness’ and ‘love’. They may seem like abstract works at first glance, but the idea that is intended is to associate ‘sound’, ‘design’ and ‘word’. For instance, the main work of the exhibition, “Rain is Popcorn” captures an ordinary rainy day, but with a deeper understanding of the work, is it possible to imagine that little moment is a very special day. The background colour leads to an association with an ‘umbrella’ and the sound of rain associates to the sound of ‘popcorn’. The meaning of ‘food’ (popcorn) equals to ‘happiness’ and ‘peace’ and the imagination comes from ‘sound’ (rain drops).
The theme colour of the exhibition is black and white. The aim of the monotone colour is for the audience to colour the work with their own imaginations and create their own story. This exhibition moves beyond the stereotype of the letterpress.
