Hiroshi Ono creates his works evoking the astounding and eternal by painting wood and metal bases over and over again and applying burner flames to separate surfaces. He spends about one week on each layer of paint, and the entire process takes roughly a year. Ono has been working this way for more than 25 years. The paints and colors of his work are condensed into they physical properties through this repetitive process and the passage of time. On display are newly completed pieces as well as paintings from his “Since 1996” series.
