The Path of Rimpa – Works by Sekka Kamisaka and Taro Yamamoto
Museum “Eki” Kyoto
This event has ended.
Sekka Kamisaka (1866–1942) continued the traditions of the Rimpa school of art and contributed to a Rimpa revival in Kyoto. Later, Taro Yamamoto (1919–1994) carried on the vision and designs of earlier Rimpa masters in the contemporary era. Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Rimpa school, this exhibition takes a fresh look at the work of these two artists, tracing the path of Rimpa’s past, present, and future. Some 100 works including paintings on folding screens, hanging scrolls, and crafts allow for comparisons of Kamisaka and Yamamoto.
