One Hundred Sacred Beasts of Chinese Myths

This event has ended.

In ancient times, auspicious creatures in Chinese mythology were referred to as sacred beasts. Typical beasts are Azure Dragon (a God said to rule over the eastern heavens), Vermilion Bird (ruling over the southern heavens), White Tiger (ruling over the western heavens), and Black Tortoise (ruling over the northern heavens); these are the four gods who preside over the heavens. We can find tortoises or tigers in the real world, but many of those beasts are imaginary creatures, and have been said to bring us happiness. In addition to those beasts, among unique characters in China, there are lucky sign beasts who grant the common people’s requests, and also evil gods who are called Rabid Fang. This exhibition brings all of these beasts together.
