This event has ended.

In Korea, study on Goryeo celadon has entered a new phase. In addition to the conventional documentary surveys and excavations of kiln sites, maritime archaeology has recently been producing remarkable results. The outset was the discovery of the sunken ship off the coast of Sinan in 1976. The trade and distribution system of those times, which has not been fully understood in previous studies due to the lack of historical evidence, is gradually being elucidated with the discovery of Goryeo celadon and thin wooden tablets recovered along with the wreck from underwater. This is the first exhibition in Japan that introduces the latest research findings by the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage in South Korea, focusing on Goryeo celadon including those from the Sinan shipwreck.
