A word coined by the artist herself, “Hitokomart” is derived from the words “Hitokoma Cartoon” and “Art”. Unlike the typical small cartoons drawn with pen and watercolors, Yukio Shinohara’s comic illustrations take the form of large acrylic paintings on canvas. This exhibition presents new work that was presented in a solo show in New York in March.
