The World of the Ikikoku Kingdom
Osaka Prefectural Museum of Yayoi Culture
This event has ended.
The island of Iki in the Genkai Sea developed its own unique civilization as the entry point to new cultural influences. Described as the capital of the Ikikoku Kingdom in the ancient Chinese historical account “Gishiwajinden,” Iki is home to the Harunotsuji ruins, the Karakami ruins, and the Kurumade ruins, former colonies of the Yayoi period (300 B.C.–300 A.D.). This island of many large burial mounds contains a great number of burial artifacts. The Osaka Prefectural Museum of Yayoi Culture now introduces the wonder of Iki’s history, with a focus on archeological materials.
